Leipziger Straße in Berlin-Mitte connects Spittelmarkt with Leipziger Platz. Along this 1.5-kilometer-long thoroughfare, there are ministries, embassies, museums, galleries, an art association, project spaces, a music kindergarten, flower shops, supermarkets, bridal boutiques, pharmacies, and a weekly market. In the section between the intersecting Charlottenstraße and Spittelmarkt, Leipziger Straße is designed with eight lanes and a central median, framed by wide sidewalks. Approximately 6,500 people live here.

Competition

On Friday, December 8, 2023, the jury convened for the single-phase, non-open, and anonymous art competition KISR – Kunst im Stadtraum an der Leipziger Straße. Under the chairmanship of the artist Henrik Schrat and after intense discussion, the jury recommended the realization of three competition entries: Diadéo trésor by the artist Kandis Friesen, rüber machen by the artist group msk7, and Gertraudenhain by the artist Christof Zwiener.

All competition entries will be presented as part of an exhibition; the location and time will be announced soon.
